Rollin Mallernee graduated from Southern Adventist University in 1968, where he was president of the student body. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1971. In law school, he was articles editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative law. He was also on the Moot Court Board, and President of the Law Students Civil Rights Research Council that conducted the law school’s first black recruitment program. In 1998, Rollin Mallernee was inducted as an honorary member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.

He has also been inducted as an honorary member of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society and the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society. He is a member of the Georgia and California Bars, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
